In Italy, Ferrari is not a car manufacturer, but a cultural heritage. The brand still stands for fast cars and pure luxury. A new illustrated book celebrates the myth.
Ferrari was founded more than 75 years ago – and is now part of Italian culture. They say that if you drive too fast in a Ferrari in Italy, you won’t get a ticket, but rather applause from the police. Try it out at your own risk… maybe this is just a modern legend that could be expensive.
But the fact is: for the Italians, Ferrari is more than just a car manufacturer. It’s a way of life. One that company founder Enzo Ferrari meticulously built up from the very first minute through a lot of marketing and sporting successes.
Unsurprisingly, there are of course a dime a dozen books about such a cult brand, each trying to get to the bottom of the Ferrari myth in their own way. This also applies to the new work “Ferrari” from Taschen-Verlag. However, “Ferrari” offers a handful of special features that many other books do not have to offer.
A book for Ferrari insiders
For example, there is the author, Pino Allievi. The Italian writer and journalist worked as a Formula 1 commentator and wrote “Ferrari Racconta”, the company founder’s last work.
The new illustrated book also contains exclusive content from the Ferrari archives and some private collections. This also includes previously unpublished images, sketches and original documents, for example Excerpts from the diaries of the company founder Enzo Ferrari.
