Alpha Motor Corporation wants to make children’s dreams come true with e-cars. The JAX could also come from Playmobil, but it really drives and is intended to revive memories of the great days of rallying.
You don’t see Alpha Motor Corporation vehicles on the streets, but the California start-up is thrilling car fans with its bold plans. Four vehicles were presented in just a few months. The last model, the JAX, is the most exciting. The abbreviation stands for “Junior Allterrain Cross-over (Xover)”. And it’s not for nothing that the vehicle looks like a rally car from the late 1960s.
What your heart desires
The oversized fenders on display show from a distance that the JAX is a 4×4 rally car. The car is 380 millimeters longer than the Coupé ACE, which is enough to fit two rear seats. The JAX is 4.56 meters long, 1.93 meters wide and 1.63 meters high. The rear seats are accessed through stub doors, where the stop is attached at the back. In addition to models with only front-wheel drive, it should also have an optional all-wheel drive. With its 75 kWh lithium-ion battery and a range of 402 kilometers, the JAX promises a practical range that is hardly suitable for large expeditions. In return, the further equipment suggests the great adventure. The JAX has a ram protection, additional headlights, a huge luggage basket on the roof and tires of the dimension 255 / 75R17.
Fun car for kids
The top version should sprint from zero to 100 km / h in less than 7 seconds. The cockpit of the JAX is designed puristically to match the look. There’s a digital instrument panel behind the steering wheel and a central widescreen infotainment screen, and that’s about it. One looks in vain for switches and buttons. The JAX offers a surprising amount of space; 1770 liters of luggage fit under the front hood. The vehicle is expected to hit the market around 2023. If you like, you can reserve the JAX now. The price ranges from $ 38,000 to $ 48,000.
How realistic is that? The design of e-cars makes it possible to set any superstructure on a platform. This means that, in principle, small series vehicles can be built again, as in the 1960s. At that time, you could also put different structures on the lower frame. The plans of companies like Alpha Motor Corporation are therefore not unrealistic if the national approval regulations for small series take into account. And what could be more natural than to help yourself to the era when cars made eyes shine. The JAX is a child’s dream for big boys and girls.
