At a traffic light in Langenhagen near Hanover, a truck crashes into the side of a bus. A passenger dies. There are many injured.
A passenger was fatally injured in the collision of a truck with a bus in Langenhagen near Hanover on Monday evening. The two drivers and 17 passengers were injured, four of them seriously, as a police spokeswoman said. The tractor unit without a trailer hit the side of the bus at an intersection “apparently with full force”. The cause of the accident is still unclear, said the spokeswoman. The fatally injured adult stood in the bus and was thrown out.
Maybe the lights were off
As the spokeswoman said, the truck wanted to drive straight ahead at the intersection – the articulated bus on line 380 had come from the right. There are witnesses who say that the traffic lights were off at the time of the accident. Other witnesses would give different information. More witnesses would be wanted.
The 46-year-old truck driver and the 45-year-old bus driver were taken to the hospital. Four children were among the injured passengers, one was seriously injured and flown to the hospital by helicopter. The bus and tractor-trailer were badly damaged by the impact. The bus has a clear dent on the side, the front of the truck has been destroyed.
