The car rental company Sixt would like to invest over 50 million euros in the expansion of its own and public charging stations and thus support the switch to electromobility. The power connections should also be made available to third parties.
The car rental company Sixt wants to support the switch to electromobility with its own charging stations. “We decided four weeks ago that we would invest over 50 million euros in expanding the charging infrastructure. In our own and public stations,” said co-boss Alexander Sixt of “Welt” on Monday. Sixt will also make the power connections available to third parties.
Sixt: Expanded network of charging stations
“It is difficult to do at the airport, because they would have to come to our parking spaces. But outside of this we want to greatly expand our network,” Sixt told the newspaper. In future, the vehicles would be parked at charging stations on the street at so-called virtual stations. “We will also make these pillars accessible to others.”
According to the Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA), there are currently around 47,000 public charging points in Germany. VDA boss Hildegard Müller had only criticized the beginning of August for the fact that the charging infrastructure was being expanded too slowly. The country is still a long way from the goal of one million charging points by 2030.
