The resolution was made by the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Developmentand it arose from the joint work that this ministry and the Secretary of Energy have been carrying out with the Association of Automotive Manufacturers (Adefa) and the Chamber of Car Importers and Distributors (Cidoa) for five years. Today, 15% of the new cars sold in the local market already have the label and from mid-May the requirement will be extended to 100%, La Nación details.

Likewise, and through a statement, Adefa highlighted that since resolution 797/2017, the automotive industry began working at a table with the public sector to reach a consensus and create fair and challenging but achievable environmental goals. “From that moment, various intermediate stages arose until the implementation of an Informative label (2019/2020) in phases (15% of models). This gave us the basis to advance the commitment assumed by our industry and implement comparative labeling with more information and added value for the customer in 100% of the models”pointed out Martín Galdeano, president of Adefa.

The new labeling will allow the implementation of rules to promote the energy transition in transport, as well as the entry of low-emission technologies in order to comply with the greenhouse gas mitigation commitments assumed by the country and reduce polluting emissions, the entity said. .

What will the label look like?

The label that the 0km must display informs about how many grams of carbon dioxide (CO2) the car emits for each kilometer of travel in a mixed driving cycle, which combines urban routes with routes and highways. It will also report fuel consumption every 100 kilometers.

The new models will come with two identical labels: one to display on the windshield or window, and one inside the corresponding owner’s manual.
