The Greens would like to see more cargo bikes instead of cars on German roads. The bulky transport bikes are enjoying growing popularity in Germany, as the sales figures suggest.
The Greens want to fund the purchase of a cargo bike with 1,000 euros. Sven-Christian Kindler, a member of the Bundestag for the Green Party, can envision making a billion euros for this in relation to the editorial network in Germany. Criticism of the proposal comes from the CDU and FDP. The former sees the need only in the city, the latter is of the opinion that there are already enough funds with subsidies for the purchase of cargo bikes. In any case, one thing is certain: two- or three-wheelers suitable for transporting people and materials are enjoying growing popularity.

According to the Zweirad-Industrie-Verband, more than 100,000 copies were sold in this country last year – this corresponds to an increase of around 36 percent. Three quarters of the cargo bikes have an electric auxiliary drive, as the graphic shows. And the transport bikes will also be well received in 2021 – or rather not, because anyone who currently wants to buy one has to expect a long delivery time.
