The National Director of INTA Carlos Parera participated in the signing of the agreement; the president of Michelin for Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay, Eliana Banchik; and the director of the INTA Agroindustry Research Center, Jorge Carrillo, among other authorities.
During the signing, Parera pointed out that “the idea is to be more efficient in all the transportation of agricultural products to the consumption centers, knowing that it is an important part of the production chain.”
“It will allow us to advance with concrete data towards one of the institutional objectives that is the mitigation of climate change and work with the issue of global warming,” he added.
For his part, Banchik stressed that “the idea is to propose an action plan to reduce this environmental impact that reduces both the carbon footprint and fuel consumption, the economic impact of transport and, at the same time, other types of analysis that improve driver safety when driving.
The purpose of the agreement is to investigate GHG emissions through an advanced monitoring system that will collect data -in real time- on the behavior of trucks and tractors with semi-trailers.
This first study will consist of measuring, in some 1,300 cargo trucks, consumption on routes and highways throughout the country (for this they will survey RPM, speed, distances, times, routes traveled, instantaneous and average fuel consumption, among others). ).
