Q.: In a context of import barriers, do you fear not being able to bring the necessary units?

GCM: It will be a challenge. We never know the deadlines, which will depend on the functioning of the Argentine economy. In an economy with foreign exchange restrictions, where imports are managed, having to import volume cars is a challenge. We may have a limitation and have less than we could sell. We have the resources to avoid it: we manufacture in Argentina, export and generate foreign currency to import. With the export of 208 I have to manage to supply Peugeot, Citroën and DS. It is difficult to find the balance.

Q.: Do you have plans to increase exports?

GCM: The more we can increase, the better. Now we are going to start exporting to Chile. Everything that we can continue to boost exports, either because they increase in Brazil or we continue to open markets, is good for us.

Q.: And through other industrial projects in the short term in the country?

GCM: Alternatives are being studied. Nothing is mature enough to be announced. We always said: when the CMP platform was implemented in El Palomar, we said that it admits different silhouettes, lengths, heights and even different energies. The idea is to bring it to life in the future, but we have nothing to announce today.

Q.: What assessment do you make regarding price distortion and overpricing?

GCM: It is not the first time that it happens, perhaps with different magnitudes. The internal tax limit fell short and the cars are beginning to pile up on that limit. I still believe that the distortions are not there, because the transaction prices, by which the sales are closed, are accommodated. We relieve that. The street accommodates the price of all versions. I recognize that it is controversial, but our industry has always been one of buying and selling with a distribution network, the dealers, who are independent entrepreneurs. They buy the cars from us and they have the power to put the price on the merchandise they bought. There is a transaction price that accommodates the range upwards. There are 8 out of 10 years that it is the other way around, the prices are below what we say. There is a dealer price, and a distorted suggested retail price list.

Q.: What terms are you seeing for a return to a certain normality?

GCM: I have no idea, it escapes from my keypad. I do not know. We do not make political opinions or the direction of the country. We try to describe the reality, the facts and what we do with this reality. When we have to talk to understand the rules of the game, we do it to make decisions. We give answers to the rules of the game.
