However, a little over a month after the announcement by the head of the Buenos Aires Government, Rodríguez Larreta, doubts remain about the way in which the City will take care of the provision, temporarily.

The Buenos Aires authorities indicated what the work guidelines will be until the procedure for the election of a new company, with all those of the law, is finalized, so that it begins to offer the service in the streets of the City.

Hauling cars: what are the changes from next Saturday

As confirmed from the City, the beaches where the cranes operate will have personnel from the Buenos Aires government in decision-making positions.

They will apply a criterion to define the cars that will be transported, according to the road coexistence guideline, so that there are no obstacles on public roads. The objective will be to monitor the efficiency and quality of the service of the cranesto assess the state of the situation, something that for years has generated complaints and claims from users.

The most questioned is the way in which the operators manipulate the cars at the time of lifting them at the place of the infraction. The premise of improving the service will start on that side, adding other items.

Another element will be to improve the process of communication with the victim when his car is taken away. Namely, how the driver is notified that his vehicle was towed, something that is usually done with a notice posted on the road, indicating the destination beach to pick up your car. To that, they explained, could add some kind of notice with photos, to give the corresponding alert.

Regarding the cranes with which they will operate, in Transport they reported that will use some of the Corps of Traffic Agents. But they said that they are still negotiating with the companies that are there to use their cranes as well.

What is maintained in the car hauling service in the City

Until now, the personnel who will carry out the work will remain the same. Except for one peculiarity: from now on, it will be part of Sbase, the state company that manages the subways. In this way, these 350 workers will be able to continue under the Truckers’ agreement.

This point was agreed to defuse a conflict that was looming on the horizon, with the union led by Pablo Moyano, which threatened to paralyze waste collection and a march to the Legislature. It is that AUSA employees are affiliated with the Trade Employees Union and UOCRA. In Sbase, on the other hand, they will be able to stay in the Truckers.

How will the tender for the new concession of the haulage service be?

The tender to hire new concessionaires that can provide this service continues, where the City will try to put a legal order and above all, a “point 0” to accommodate the applicable regulations. The opening of envelopes for the bidding process is scheduled for October 21, after an extension at the request of different companies that did not get to prepare their proposals.

The Buenos Aires government confirmed that up to now 12 companies withdrew the specifications. But it will not be known what they are until these envelopes are opened. Consequently, it is also not known whether the companies that have provided the service up to now submitted bids in this new tender. Technically, nothing prevented them from doing so.

The pre-award is scheduled for before the end of the year and the new companies would take over the service in the first months of 2023. Unlike what happens with the current system, the new mode of service that the cranes will provide will allow them to reach all neighborhoods. The City will be divided into three zones, each one in charge of a different company, where they must have at least two hauling beaches to transport the vehicles.

The new regulations established that AUSA will take charge of the service from next week, although there are no established guidelines on how it will do so. It is known that, for the moment, the cranes will not yet reach the entire City and will remain in the same current areas.
