Those that refer to this year, according to the ACAU, were sold in January 3,995 zero kilometer vehicleswhile in the same period last year 3,439 were sold – which would represent a sales increase of 16% – us 556 more than in 2022.
Regarding the categories, the ones that increased the most in sales – compared to last year – were utility vehicles with a rise of 26.7%, since 796 were sold this year and 628 last year. On the other hand, cars also had a nice year-over-year increase of 14% as 1,960 cars were sold this year and 1,720 last year.
Sports utility vehicles, for their part, had an increase of 7.9% since last year 896 were sold and this year 967. Trucks and minibuses also had an increase, with 253 against 190 and 17 against 3, respectively. The buses were the only category that remained the same since both in January of this year and in the previous year only 2 were sold.
An annual growth of 6.42%
The annual report presented by the Acau on the sale of 0km vehicles, which include cars, SUVs and utility trucks, minibuses, buses and trucks, was 55,056. In 2021, the total sale of vehicles was 51,737, which meant a growth of 6.42% for 2022, mainly in cars, SUVs and utility trucks, as well as buses, but there was a drop in the sale of minibuses and trucks.
The growth in car sales was due to three factors. The first is the drop in the dollar, which in the year totaled 10.35%. The second was due to the country’s economy, which saw a 5% rise in Gross Domestic Product (GDP), and finally, consumer confidence in the economy that allows them to invest in durable and high-cost goods.
