Through a local production process, in this first stage the company offers the possibility of acquiring a reconditioned gearbox.
“When the client has the need to repair the box, which is not a minor operation, until today they had 2 alternatives: buy a new box or repair it…”, warns Gabriel Angulo, Volvo Trucks Argentina Services Manager. . From now on a third option is added: “It can be replaced by a Reacon box” he clarifies.
The Reacon box is repaired from scratch, always with original parts and has a 2-year warranty assembled at all Volvo service points. The benefit is economic since, by delivering their used/damaged box, the client receives a new one, at a lower cost than a new box.
Another important point of the program lies in the benefit that occurs at the level of availability of the unit since the time to repair a box is longer than to replace it with another.
“The entire process of reconditioning the boxes is done in Volvo’s workshops and is approved by the plant in Brazil, both in the tools used and in the training of technicians,” says the executive.
It also means giving the components a second use, with an impact on sustainability, because waste is not generated and the useful life of the parts is extended.
“We started with boxes and the idea is to extend this program to another 3 new components during 2023” concludes Angulo.
