Attention, when looking at this photo series, one or the other reader could feel old: What, these are vintage cars? These cars are already 30 years old?
In fact, with classics such as the Renault Twingo or the first C-Class from Mercedes, it is hard to believe that the models can actually already have the H license plate. However, since this year they have earned their place in the list – just like the Porsche 911 in the 993 series or the second version of the Nissan Micra or the Opel Corsa.
Of course, it is worth taking a look at the registration papers for your own vehicle in individual cases: the models shown here were built from 1993 onwards. So if you jumped right at the start of sales, you have a good chance. Accordingly, younger cars of the same model series will only be eligible for the H license plate in the next few years.
Advantages of old-timers: No fine dust sticker, no catalytic converter necessary
Sure, at the oldtimer meeting you will probably attract attention with such “young” oldtimers. But the H license plate is also worthwhile in other respects: Owners can benefit from a lower tax rate and cheaper rates for car insurance. In addition, vintage cars are also allowed to drive in environmental zones without a catalytic converter and without a particulate matter sticker.
And even those who have not yet owned one of these classic cars will be happy to browse through the photo series with the many models from 1993: After all, some of the classics hide memories from your own youth or the secret dream car you dreamed of in the 90s has.
