RAM presented its first vehicle designed and developed in Latin America in Brazil, with an expected arrival in Argentina.
This is the fifth vehicle to be produced at the Stellantis Automotive Pole, in Goiana, Pernambuco, which already has close to 1.4 million units produced. And it comes in three versions: Laramie, Rebel and R/T.
Work of the Stellantis Design Center of South America, the Rampage had the collaboration of North American designers. The bodywork is new and it is worth mentioning the optical assemblies, entirely in LED. Behind, the taillights have graphics that when turned on refer to the United States flag, with red stripes and the reversing light forming a rectangle of stars.
In relation to external dimensions, the Rampage is 5,028 mm. long, 1,886 mm. wide, 1,780 mm. high, and 2,994 mm. wheelbase.
Rampage is the most powerful pickup manufactured in South America. This is due to the modern Hurricane 4 engine, applied for the first time to a vehicle produced in the region. They are 272 CV of power and 400 Nm (40.8 kgfm) of torque generated by the 2-liter inline four-cylinder gasoline engine, the same one that equips the Jeep Wrangler. As part of the Stellantis GME (Global Midsize Engine) family, the Hurricane 4 also has a low inertia twin-scroll turbocharger, electronic relief valve and cooled exhaust gas recirculation.
In the R/T version, the sportiest of all, Rampage accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds and has a (limited) top speed of 220 km/h. In the other versions: from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.1 seconds and a top speed of 210 km/h.
The other Rampage engine is the already established 2-liter Multijet Turbodiesel, which delivers 170 HP of power and 380 Nm (38.8 kgfm) of torque. All versions have a nine-speed automatic transmission and traction is always automatic 4×4, which distributes the force between the two axes, with the option of reducing it through a button on the center console. The load capacity is 1,015 kg in diesel configurations and 750 kg with a gasoline engine. It has a volumetric capacity of 980 liters. The air conditioning is digital, two-zone, and includes outlets for passengers in the rear. In addition to having electric opening (by means of a button on the key), it has damping, to lower it and facilitate lifting, and interior lighting also in LED. The instrument panel is upholstered in leather, as is the door panel, the central armrest and the multifunction steering wheel with height and depth adjustment. In all versions, the driver’s seat is electric with 12 positions, 4 of which are lumbar. The passenger seat is 12-way power on R/T (optional on other trims).
The iron has 22.6-inch screens. There are 10.3″ of the full digital instrument panel and 12.3″ of the Uconnect multimedia center, the largest in the category.
The list of safety equipment is extensive and includes, for example: seven airbags (front, front side, curtain (front and rear) and driver knee), stability control, body roll mitigation, automatic high headlight switching, tire pressure monitoring and various types of driving.
These include adaptive cruise control with Stop&Go, forward collision alert with autonomous emergency braking and pedestrian and cyclist detection, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic detection, and corrected lane departure alert.
