“There is a real need for more affordable electric vehicles” – true words from Fiat boss Olivier Francois. But anyone who is currently looking for an electric car for less than 30,000 euros only has a very limited choice. Especially Dacia Spring Electric, Renault Twingo E-Tech, Fiat 500e, VW E-Up and the Ego e.Wave X dominate the offer lists.
However, this is likely to change drastically in the next two years, as more and more manufacturers are dedicating themselves to the entry-level segment – and manufacturing is becoming easier and more cost-effective. With many models that have now been announced or at least hinted at, you will have to wait a while – because many will not come onto the market until 2025.
There are firm commitments for the year after next, for example from VW and Seat with the ID.2all and Raval models, as well Renault with a new electric Twingo.
Many new electric cars will be launched in 2024, Tesla Model 2 is still pending
Models like the Fiat Panda, the Citroën ë-C3, Renault’s legendary R5 and probably the Hyundai Casper will be launched next year.
Recently, Tesla boss Elon Musk also reported the first indications of an entry-level Tesla. A new car should therefore already be in the planning stages. Musk said: “We’re working on a cheap one Electric car, which we can produce in very large numbers. We are already very advanced in this regard. The way the car is produced will simply blow people away.” He did not give the most important information, namely exact data and the price. The Model 2, which has not yet been presented, is repeatedly mentioned at around 25,000 US dollars -dollars estimated.
