The Swedish company Volvo plans to introduce cars with the fourth level autopilot to the Russian market in 2025. Maxim Belikov, a product and brand expert of Volvo Car Russia, told the Izvestia correspondent about this.
“According to the plans of the Ministry of Transport of Russia in 2025, unmanned vehicles will already work on the roads. Accordingly, we are able to bring to the market and offer a higher level of driver assistance systems, where there is an autonomous driving function. We are talking about the fourth generation of the autopilot, ”said Maxim Belikov.
According to the expert, Volvo strives to minimize human involvement in driving. Level 4 autopilot allows the car to drive completely on its own. But only with the participation of a person as a controller. If necessary, the driver is obliged to take control of the vehicle.
On July 7, it was reported that Volvo will transform itself into a premium electric vehicle manufacturer and a global leader in the fast-growing premium electric segment by 2030.
The company plans to build cars with a real range that is double that of current electric vehicles. By the middle of this decade, Volvo expects to sell 1.2 million vehicles worldwide, of which at least half will be fully electric.
