Avito Auto experts conducted a survey and found out how the plans of Russians to purchase a car have changed due to the shortage of new models in dealerships and the rise in prices in the car market.
As stated in a press release received on December 9 by Izvestia, the increase in prices in the car market was noted as a decisive factor when changing plans to buy a car, 59% of respondents, 10% of respondents named the main reason for refusing to buy a shortage of a number of new models.
Among all those surveyed, 44% planned to buy a car in 2021. More than half of them postponed their purchase due to the rise in prices on the market to a later date (52%).
Among other changes in plans – the decision to buy a used car instead of a new one: 13% of respondents noted that this year they made a choice in favor of a used vehicle instead of a new one. 12% of the surveyed car owners noted that they had to choose a car with a cheaper configuration than they initially wanted.
10% of respondents decided to buy the originally planned car and took out a loan for this. 19% of Russian car owners surveyed ended up purchasing a more expensive car. A domestic model instead of a foreign car was purchased by 10% of the respondents.
Nothing has changed in the plans to purchase a car from 5% of respondents. In Moscow their share was 7%, in St. Petersburg – 8%, in Nizhny Novgorod – 9%.
On November 12, it was reported that Avito Auto experts analyzed data on cars for sale and found out how much popular used models have risen in price over the past 10 months. It is noted that in some large cities of the country the rise in prices for used cars turned out to be much more noticeable.
