Tesla has begun assembling a limited batch of Semi electric trucks at its plant in Nevada, USA.
According to InsideEVs, full-scale production of the Tesla Semi will not begin until 2023 at the earliest. It is noted that now the enterprise is assembling a pilot batch of cars intended for supply to PepsiCo.
Tesla Semi presentation took place in November 2017. The truck is equipped with four independent engines, one for each rear wheel. It can accelerate to 60 km / h in just 5 seconds.
The most expensive part of an electric truck is the battery, which is estimated at $ 100,000. However, according to Tesla, the investment in such vehicles will pay off later by reducing the cost of gasoline and driver salaries.
The new Tesla Semi electric truck will be able to cover up to 1,000 km without recharging the batteries.
On December 6, it was reported that the Tesla Cybertruck pickup will receive a version with four electric motors. This modification will be the first to go on sale. Moreover, it will become the most expensive version of the Tesla Cybertruck.
Later, the car can be bought with three and two electric motors. It is possible that Tesla will refuse to release a single-engine version of the pickup.
