For Porsche, the Macan is not just an entry-level SUV, it is also a real volume booster. That is why it is being extended, because while the new, all-electric Macan is already being developed, the current combustion engine is getting a second facelift.

The facelift can hardly be distinguished from the previous model. There is a new front, a modified rear and, depending on the model, a slight increase in performance. The narrow four-cylinder, more popular in China, is happy about an additional output from 20 to 195 kW / 265 PS / 400 Nm. Torque. There is also more power for the then 380 hp Macan S and the 440 hp Macan GTS, which takes the place of the deleted Macan Turbo that lacks the power to compete with the BMW X3 M / X4 M or Mercedes AMG GLC 63 deliver up to over 500 hp. The GTS is supposed to become desirable due to noticeably more dynamics, which is ensured by a tighter sports air suspension, a new damper control and an optional sports package with sports tires and additional agility through torque vectoring on the rear axle.

Inside there are particularly sporty leather seats on request, a new center console that has significantly slimmed down when it comes to switches. Although there is a new 10.9-inch touchscreen in the middle of the dashboard, the analogue instruments behind the steering wheel look old and, despite their precision, cannot keep up with the competition. The new leather steering wheel from the Porsche 911 feels better in the hand. The Porsche Macan has not only developed into a volume model over the years in China. 60 percent of all customers there are women.

Meanwhile, the development team for the Porsche Macan is already on the road with the new, electric generation. So far, the tests have primarily taken place on the strictly secured test site in Weissach, but now they are increasingly being used on public roads and on external test sites around the world. “Testing in a real environment begins and is one of the most important milestones in the development process,” says Michael Steiner. By the time the first fully electric Macan is launched on the market in 2023, around three million test kilometers are to be completed under various conditions worldwide. The prototype already has some experience from countless test kilometers – driven in virtual space on the computer. The new Porsche Macan can be ordered now and will be delivered from the beginning of October. Prices start at 62,917 euros for the Macan, 71,723 euros for the Macan S and 88,264 euros for the Macan GTS.
