Drivers must follow a number of rules so as not to harm the car during frosts. This was announced on Monday, December 20, by auto expert Vyacheslav Subbotin.
“All you have to do with your car to get ready for winter is change the tires – summer to winter. Moreover, you need to “change your shoes” when there is already a sure minus, when the snow has already started. I advise drivers to follow the forecast. This is especially true for the southern regions of Russia, ”he told REN TV.
He noted that there is no need to change tires before the onset of snow, as summer tires hold better on clean asphalt than winter tires.
Subbotin also advised drivers to take care of the door seals in advance.
“Now the seal is not just a piece that prevents heat from escaping from the car. It is also a sound-absorbing element. There are many of them – two, three, or even four levels. And everything needs to be treated with silicone, ”the expert explained.
He noted that this ensures that the doors in the car will open in the morning.
In addition, the auto expert told how to get into the car if the doors still could not be opened. According to him, this can only be done through the trunk, since many cars have a special hook that opens it.
It is also important to properly warm up the windshield during frost. So, it is impossible to immediately let hot air on it, because of this manipulation, the glass may crack. Subbotin recommended gradually changing the air flow from cold to warm.
In addition, the auto expert advised to pay attention to the correct warming up of the engine. This should be done not for 20-30 minutes, but only for three to five for the oil to warm up.
On December 10, experts of the services “SberServices” and “SberAvto” named the most frequent mistakes of drivers on the winter road. The first common mistake is not keeping the required distance. In addition, it must be remembered that heavy braking can be dangerous even in summer on dry roads, but in winter it can also cause an accident.
