The Sumotori Group company from Vladivostok plans to start selling the classic Lada Niva SUV in Japan in 2022. The model will be called the Vlada 4 × 4.
According to the head of the company Vitaly Verkeenko on Instagram, the model is being modernized especially for the Japanese market. At the same time, the top manager did not specify how the modified model will differ from the usual Lada Niva. The SUV is set to premiere at the Tokyo Auto Show, which opens on January 14, 2022.
In Russia, the classic Lada Niva SUV is offered with a 1.7-liter gasoline engine with 80 hp, a five-speed manual transmission and an all-wheel drive system.
On October 26, in Zurich, the European presentation of the Niva Red Legend Team, a private team from Switzerland, which will take part in the Dakar-2022 rally on the 1984 Lada Niva SUV in the classic classification, took place in Zurich.
The racing car differs from a standard SUV in a special body painting, additional optics and special tires. The cabin has a roll cage, sports steering wheel and racing seats.
