The Xiaomi Su7 is currently only available in China – and is the smartphone manufacturer’s first car. The company has now surprisingly announced another, extremely powerful model.
Initially ridiculed, the technology group Xiaomi did not let itself be deterred after announcing its electric car ambitions and put the stylish Su7 on the road in record time. The car is already on the road in China – and, given the waiting time that interested customers have to endure before receiving the vehicles, it is in great demand. In addition to some positive tests, the Su7 is repeatedly said to have quality and durability problems. That is probably the price you pay for building a car in a very short space of time.
However, as the company’s boss says, Xiaomi is apparently not deterred by this. And so the street version of the Su7 will soon be followed by a hyper sports car that could put established manufacturers like Rimac or Porsche in the shade. The vehicle, called the Su7 Ultra, is still in the testing phase.
Xiaomi Su7 Ultra with 1548 HP
The electric car is equipped with a total of three motors that generate a system output of 1548 hp. Somewhat confusing: Xiaomi calls its engines V8s and V6s, which is based on the name of combustion engines, even though the vehicles are purely electric.

1000 hp and more: These cars are among the most powerful and fastest in the world
On paper, Xiaomi says it can accelerate to 100 km/h in 1.97 seconds and has a top speed of over 350 kilometers per hour. To reduce weight, all body parts are to be made of carbon fiber. The manufacturer states the weight as 1,900 kilos. That’s actually relatively light for an electric car, but in the world of super sports cars it’s definitely a bit above average. Xiaomi is competing directly with a LaFerrari and a Porsche 918 Spyder. However, their empty weight is around 1.6 tons each. It would have been smarter to look at the electric competition, because both a Rimac Nevera and a Tesla Model S Plaid weigh significantly more.
Although Xiaomi has not yet communicated a price, carbon parts usually mean a hefty bill. The normal Su7 costs just under 30,000 euros in the basic version.
Chasing records in October
According to Chinese sources (), Xiaomi states that the charging performance is an astonishing twelve minutes. Not for the charging window from 10 to 80 percent, but for a full charge of 0. That would be an absolute record, measured against today’s peak values. Provided that you can even find charging stations that offer the corresponding performance.

To ensure that it doesn’t remain just empty words, Xiaomi has also announced the next steps with the Su7 Ultra. In October, the company is planning a record-breaking drive on the Nürburgring. There, they want to win the title for the fastest electric car. The current record for four-door electric sedans is held by the visually very similar Porsche Taycan Turbo GT with a lap time of 7:07.55 minutes. The two-door Rimac Nevera was even faster.
It remains unclear whether the Su7 Ultra will remain a prototype for the record hunt or whether the company plans to produce it in series.
