VTV Update: New Procedures and Rates from August 2024

New rules and fees for the Vehicle Technical Inspection. Find out all the requirements to carry out this procedure.

As of August 1, 2024, the province of Buenos Aires will implement significant changes to the renewal process of the Technical Vehicle Inspection (VTV)This update aims to improve the efficiency of the process and ensure that all vehicles meet safety and emission requirements.

The updated system requires vehicle owners to enter personal data, create a password and provide detailed vehicle information. Once this registration is completed, they will be able to choose the plant and schedule the date and time for their inspection. These changes are intended to simplify the process and ensure greater safety on the roads.

How much does VTV cost from August 2024?

The costs of the Vehicle Technical Inspection will be as follows from August 2024:

Cars:

  • Vehicles up to 2500 Kg: $34,531.17
  • Vehicles over 2500 Kg: $62,156.10

Trucks:

  • Trailers, semi-trailers and trailers up to 2500 kg: $20,718.70
  • Trailers, semi-trailers and trailers weighing more than 2500 kg: $31,078.05

Motorcycles:

  • Motorcycles over 50cc and up to 200cc: $13,812.47
  • Motorcycles over 200cc and up to 600cc: $20,718.70
  • Motorcycles over 600cc: $27,624.93

Requirements to renew the VTV

To renew the VTV, owners must present the following documents:

  • Green Card of the vehicle.
  • Valid National Identity Document.
  • Car ownership title (for those who are completing the procedure for the first time).
  • CUIT (if applicable).

Who is exempt from paying

In the City of Buenos Aires, Brand new cars and motorcycles are exempt until they are four years old or have 64,000 km. They are also exempt Retirees, pensioners and people over 65 years of age with income up to 2 minimum retirement benefitsas well as people with disabilities and their immediate family members. On the other hand, in the Province of Buenos Aires, vehicles up to two years old and motorcycles one year old are exempt from paying this fee.
