What is Quiniela?
Quiniela is the most popular game of chance in Argentina. Organized and controlled by the lotteries of each province. Quiniela is a banked game, meaning that it does not have a prize pool, but these are determined based on the correct guesses of the bettors.
In general, each province implements what they call a “banking cap.” The banking cap is set by each entity and is used to prorate payments when the amount of prizes to be paid exceeds said cap.
The draws consist of 20 4-digit numbers (from 0000 to 9999), distributed in 20 prizes. They are carried out with five lottery machines (manual or automatic). The first lottery machine indicates the thousand, the second the hundred, the third the ten, the fourth the unit and the last the location of the extract.
How to play Quiniela?
The bettor must go to the nearest Lottery Agency and place his bet. It is necessary to remember that these close 10 minutes before the draw on weekdays and 15 minutes before on weekends. The game consists of choosing a number of 1 to 4 digits between 0000 and 9999, the starting position from 1 to 20 and the extract of the Lottery on which you want to bet (first, morning, afternoon or night). The different ways to play are the following:
- Exact direct bet: is one that is made on a 1, 2, 3 or 4 digit number in a single and specific location within the extract of the 20 prizes.
- Straight spread bet: this is a bet placed on a 1, 2, 3 or 4 digit number and where the bettor specifies a range of positions (with a length greater than 1). Examples of accepted ranges are: from 1 to 5, from 1 to 10, from 1 to 20, from 5 to 10, etc.
- Exact double bet: this is the bet placed on 2 2-digit numbers in 2 specific locations on the extract, chosen from the 20 numbers that make up the pool for the selected jurisdiction.
- Extended double bets: are those made on 2 2-digit numbers between any location chosen within the 20 prizes of the extract of the selected jurisdiction.
If the bet wins, it can be multiplied by seven, seventy, six hundred or three thousand five hundred times, depending on the variant used.
How is the National and Provincial Lottery draw carried out?
The drawing of numbers takes place in the Buenos Aires City Lottery halls – for the Federal Capital – and in the Provincial Lottery halls – for Buenos Aires.
To carry out the draw, four lottery balls are used to represent the different numbers. The first corresponds to the thousand, the second to the hundred, the third to the ten and the fourth to the unit.
Each of the aforementioned lottery machines has ten balls (with numbers from 0 to 9), and a fifth lottery machine, which will make up the different locations on the board, that is, it will have twenty balls from 1 to 20, which correspond to the twenty positions on the board.
How many draws are there per day and what are the times?
The Quiniela draws are held four times a day:
- The Preview (at 10).
- The First (at 12).
- The Morning Show (at 3pm).
- The Vespertina (at 17:30).
- The Nocturne (at 9pm).
