Retail prices for passenger cars in Russia increased by an average of 11% over the year

In 2021, the recommended retail prices for new passenger cars on the Russian market increased by an average of 11%. Analysts of Avto.ru studied price changes.

It turned out that from January to December 2021 prices for the new Jac J7, Mercedes-Benz V-class and FAW Besturn X40 rose the most – by 26, 23.9 and 23.7%, respectively. In ruble terms, Chinese models added 220-300 thousand rubles, while the price for a German van increased by 1.2-1.6 million rubles.

Among the non-premium brands, the Volkswagen Multivan in Edition and Comfortline trim levels grew the most (plus 1 million rubles). The price for the Toyota Alphard in the Executive Lounge version also went up – by 600 thousand rubles. Also, Toyota Land Cruiser and Land Cruiser Prado added almost 600 thousand rubles each.

Among the cheaper models, Volkswagen Tiguan, Skoda Kodiaq, Kia Sportage added the most in value – by 330 thousand, 317 thousand and 310 thousand rubles, respectively.

Among the best-selling models in Russia, the prices for Lada Vesta have grown the most – by 147 thousand rubles and Lada Granta – by 118 thousand rubles – by an average of 15.4%. The prices for Kia Rio also increased – by 135 thousand rubles – 12%. Hyundai Solaris and Creta cars have risen in price by 115 thousand and 50 thousand rubles, respectively – by an average of 12%.

Representatives of premium brands added a little stronger than the market over the year – 11.9%. The mass market has become more expensive by 10.5%. Representatives of the Chinese car industry rose by 10.3%. Jeep and DongFeng rose the most in price – by 18%, Genesis – by 17%, Mini and Cadillac – by 16% each.

The Russian manufacturer Lada raised the price by more than 15% and most often updated the price tag during the year – only seven times.

At the same time, the softest growth in prices was recorded in Mercedes-Benz: on average, cars rose in price by only 3%.

BMW cars added three times faster – by 9%, and the strongest price spike in the German troika was recorded for Audi – 15%.

Earlier on the same day, the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov said that the Russian auto industry and the car market showed an increase in key indicators at the end of 2021. Sales of new cars on the Russian market over the past year amounted to 1.8 million units, which is more than 6% higher than the results of the previous year.

The production of cars in the country exceeded 1.5 million units, which is 10% more than in 2020.
