Bus stoppage: key meeting between the Government and the UTA

The salary conflict that affects the public transportation of the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area (AMBA) adds a new chapter after the suspension, for 15 days, of the possible bus stoppage by the Union Tranviarios Automor (UTA). Now, the union and the business chambers were summoned for a new hearing, which will take place next Wednesday October 3to resolve the salary conflict.

UTA and businessmen will meet again

After the intervention of the Ministry of Labor, which dictated mandatory conciliation between both parties, UTA and the business chambers will meet again this Wednesday, October 3. The demand of the union sector is for the reopening of the joint venture. In this sense, UTA demands a base salary of $1,160,000 for August, increasing month by month, until reaching $1,322,136 for December.

The demand of the public transport sector had reached a limit in which a bus stoppage had been announced for the Sunday, September 30 and Monday, October 1. After the government’s intervention, the union authorities announced the suspension of the force measure for at least 15 days.

Transport unions are analyzing a 24-hour strike for October 17.

After Wednesday’s meeting, it will be known how the transport sector’s wage claim continues. Despite the conciliation, new forceful measures by the union.

The Government and the unions resumed dialogue: they agreed to form a tripartite table

In a tense political context, which has as a backdrop the university march planned for this Wednesday and a possible general transport strike planned for next October 17, the Government received this Monday the leaders of the General Confederation of Labor (CGT). After the meeting, both official sources and unions highlighted the importance of having direct contact and the impression was that both parties were moving towards a more permanent dialogue to resolve the confrontations.

It was carried out in Pink House where, starting at 5 p.m. last Monday, the Chief of Staff, Guillermo Francos; together with the Secretary of Labor, Julio Cordero; and the presidential advisor, Santiago Caputoheld a meeting with a CGT delegation. The general secretaries were present on behalf of the labor union, Héctor Daer (Health) and Carlos Acuña (Service Station Workers Union (SOESGyPE).

After the meeting, both sectors agreed to form a tripartite table made up of the Government, the CGT and representatives of the business community. The idea is to discuss various issues on the labor agenda, as well as include union representatives in the formation of the Mayo Council.

The meeting took place in the Hall of Shields. The advisor to the Ministry of Labor, Guillermo Comadira, also participated in the meeting and were present, for the CGT, Jorge Sola (Insurance Union); Andres Rodriguez (UPCN); Gerardo Martinez (UOCRA); José Luis Lingeri (Sanitary Works); Cristian Geronimo (Union of Glass and Related Industry Employees, Seivara); Robustiano Geneiro (UTHGRA); Maia Volcovinsky (UEJN); Luz Marina Jaureguiberry (SADOP); Sergio Romero (UDA); Roberto Fernandez (UTA); and Daniel Ricci (FEDUN). Moyano was not present, who maintains his position of not engaging in dialogue with the Government.
