The television series adaptation god of war in amazon has found its new showrunner. According to the Variety portal Ronald D. Moore has joined the show as writer, showrunner and executive producer. Moore joins the series shortly after it was reported that original showrunner Rafe Judkins He had left the series.

Judkins left God of War along with executive producers Hawk Ostby and Mark Fergus. They had reportedly completed several scripts for the series, but Amazon and studio Sony Pictures Television decided to go in a different creative direction.


Moore recently returned to Sony Pictures Television with a new overall deal after leaving the independent studio to sign a deal with Disney and 20th Television. He had previously been with Sony for about a decade, during which time he produced hit shows like Outlander and For All Mankind.
Moore is also known for his work on the franchise. Star Trekin programs like Next Generation, Voyager and Deep Space NineIn addition to writing the films Star Trek: Generations and Star Trek: First Contact. He is perhaps best known for his new version of Battlestar Galacticawhich aired for four seasons on Syfy (then Sci-Fi Channel) and also spawned two television movies, which ended in 2009. A prequel series, Capricaaired on Syfy for one season in 2010.
Santa Monica Studio creative director Cory Barlog remains on board God of War as executive producer, as do Playstation Productions’ Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan, Sony Interactive Entertainment’s Hermen Hulst, and Vertigo’s Roy Lee. Jeff Ketcham of Santa Monica Studio is co-executive producer. Originally, Amazon Prime Video ordered the show to be converted to series in 2022.
What the God of War series will be about
Based on the hugely popular 2018 video game developed by Santa Monica Studio, the show follows Kratos, the god of war, who, “after being exiled from his blood-soaked past in ancient Greece, hangs up his weapons forever in the Norse kingdom of Midgard, according to the Amazon description.
“When his beloved wife dies, Kratos embarks on a dangerous journey with his estranged son Atreus to scatter her ashes from the highest peak – his wife’s dying wish. Kratos soon realizes that the journey is an epic quest in disguise, which will test the bonds between father and son, and force Kratos to fight new gods and monsters for the fate of the world.”
