John Wick will have a prequel film in the form of an anime, according to the co-creator of the franchise, Chad Stahelski.
In a new chat with The Hollywood Reporter, Stahelski, who co-created the John Wick franchise and directed the four main films to date, confirmed that a prequel film is in the worksalthough it will not be a live-action film and will instead take the form of an anime.
According to Stahelski, the main franchise, starring Keanu Reeves as the main character, will not spawn any more sequels, as Wick’s journey is “a complete story.” However, the franchise will continue with prequels and spin-offs.
What the John Wick anime prequel film will be like
One of the prequels being developed is an anime film: “Right now, We are immersed in the development of an anime film about John Wick. It’s a prequel to the movies, which is great. “It’s fun that it’s in a different medium.”
Stahelski continued: “It’s supposed to be fun. Some of the prequels and sequels you see in other franchises are not meant to be built that way. We just want to have fun. We want to have fun with the world of Wick, but we’ve already covered it one end [con John Wick: Capítulo 4 ]so let’s go back and use a different medium.”
“Continuing to produce episodes of John Wick’s adventures seems a little disingenuous to us, but exploring different aspects of the world and different aspects of John Wick before the movies and through a different medium, whether it’s anime or television, that’s fun,” he explained.
