Aaron of Anchorena He had no direct descendants and died on February 24, 1965 at his residence at Estancia La Barra de San Juan in Colonia, Uruguay. On December 25, 1907, with the legendary balloon “Pampero” he made, together with Jorge Newbery, the first flight to cross the Río de la Plata from the premises of the Sociedad Sportiva Argentina to Uruguay.

Aarón de Anchorena was born on November 5, 1877 in the family Estancia, in Uruguay. He was a member of the wealthy family known for being one of the richest ranchers in the country. Son of Nicolás Hugo Anchorena Arana and Mercedes Castellanos de Anchorena, Pontifical Countess.
From a very young age he felt concern for motorsports and aviation. In 1901 he participated in the first car race held at the National Hippodrome located in Belgrano and obtained first place. In 1902 he traveled on horseback through Patagonia and brought Lake Nahuel Huapi and Victoria Island to life.
He was also a pioneer and promoted tourism in the Andean area, introduced exotic animals, deer, and created a nursery and forested more than 2,000 species of trees around the world. He built a shipyard in Puerto Anchorena, the dock and houses for the administration. Also roads, corrals and a dairy farm.
On December 25, 1907, he made the legendary flight from the Sociedad Sportiva Argentina property to Uruguay, together with Jorge Newbery. He then settled as a rancher in the department of Colonia, in Uruguay. He died there on February 24, 1965.
