Mark Zuckerberg’s mega-yachts are at a hotspot – man boarded the dinghy

Billionaires like Mark Zuckerberg actually buy yachts like the “Launchpad” so they can retreat from the public in a luxurious atmosphere. But that doesn’t always work. Especially not when the impressive ships are in ports that are part of tourist hotspots.

That is currently the fate of the “Launchpad” and the shadow ship “Wingman”. Both ships, which always sail together for Zuckerberg, are currently just one pier away from the museum ship “USS Midway” in San Diego. The Embarcadero waterfront promenade serves as a pier for cruise ships and is the destination of thousands of tourists every day who want to see downtown San Diego or one of the many ships there. Also that one star was there recently.

Mark Zuckerberg’s yachts are not located at Broadway Pier as an attraction, but are maintained there by countless employees and receive new equipment for future trips. It is not entirely clear why the ships are so close to the tourist flows, as there is no shortage of public piers in San Diego Bay.

And so the gigantic ships – the “Launchpad” is 118 meters long, the “Wingman” is 67 meters long – have to serve as additional attractions. In short: Anyone who has been visiting San Diego since the end of September cannot miss the Zuckerberg fleet.

Let’s see if that changes soon and lets Zuckerberg relocate. Recently a man apparently tried to gain access to the ships. As “” reports, a person is said to have climbed onto a dinghy (tender) of the “Wingman” and started throwing objects into the water. According to the police, the man was under the influence of drugs.

The man was booked into the San Diego County Jail and is expected to face charges. Meanwhile, according to media reports, further investigations are currently underway to determine how the man was able to get on board and where security measures were inadequate.

During an on-site inspection of the yacht, the answer was quickly found: The Broadway Pier in San Diego, unlike other piers in the area, is public property. You can get very close to the ships, separated only by a thin fence. As soon as the gates of the fence are opened for a delivery or refueling, you ultimately just have to wait for the right moment. The fact that the yacht was entered without authorization is actually not surprising.
