“Virgen Rosa”, by Dennis Smith, which oscillates between cinema and theater: “A Tale of Two Warriors”, by Pablo César, a chronicle of a friendship, and “Reveal. Indications of identity”, by Fermín Rivera, based on the memoirs of Paco Urondo’s granddaughter
Three national films were released, very different from each other, each with merits that should be recorded.
In “Pink Virgin”, Dennis Smith reworks and enriches an old work of his, “Roud Muvi”where three siblings (the bossy one, the timid one and the middle one) walk towards Luján, bumping into each other the entire trip. What is interesting, but which can be annoying for an unsuspecting public, is the mixture of film and theater, with a “staging in sight” that is as unique as it is challenging.
With a knowing look and ability to work in unusual terrain, Paul Caesar tells in “Tale of two warriors” the development of a friendship that becomes intimate in the fight for life (and the fight of clandestine fights). The protagonists do not have it easy, particularly one who had come from Africa with the hope of joining a football club. Filming in Empedrado and Parque Camba Cuá, Corrientes, showing the capacity of local technicians and artists. There is a seedbed on the coast, nourished by good cultural policies.
And in his new documentary, “Reveal. Indications of identity”, Fermin Rivera It approaches the mystery of the first, vague memories of memory. Echoes of a voice or a song, the warm image of a face, perhaps a socket, a toy, the smell of casuarinas, sometimes one asks, when one is older and the parents admire each other, “How do you remember! “You were very small”and corroborate the accuracy and origin of those memories. But what happens when the parents are not there? For example, adopted children who are looking for their biological mother. In this case, Rivera ask the grandchildren of missing people. The first-person testimonies are very touching, bordering on emotion.
Backup and threading of this record is Angie Urondo. She was just 11 months old when she went with her parents and a family friend. They surrounded them. The father, Paco Urondopoet and Montonero, was shot to death while covering the escape of his wife, the journalist Alicia Cora Raboywho managed to deliver the creature to some neighbors before being arrested and disappeared. The friend managed to escape, and years later she testified at a trial. The girl luckily had a protected childhood, but also confused and terrible dreams that haunted her until she was 18, when she knew who she really was, and understood that those dreams were not mere fantasies, but memories of a terrifying day. Much later he expressed those anxieties in some blogs, “Pieces” and “Childhood and dictatorship”where his personal memory is joined with those of others, forming a series of mature dreams that would be good to edit in a book.
