0 to 100 kilometers: Chinese electric car breaks 2-second mark

This electric car sounds fantastic: from a standstill to 100 in less than 1.9 seconds, a range of more than 650 kilometers and a weight of less than two tons.

The Chinese manufacturer Jiyue is largely unknown in Europe. No wonder: the joint venture between the tech companies Baidu and Geely presented its first series vehicle just a year ago and is currently only represented on the home market. In addition, it may not be that easy for such young brands to attract international attention – too many manufacturers from China are currently entering the market. It helps if you put a superlative vehicle on the wheels.

Pre-orders for Jiyue’s super electric car are underway

At the Guangzhou Auto Show 2024, the company showed the electric super sports car Robo

On paper, the Robo X is a real super sports car – purely electric, of course. The manufacturer states that the acceleration from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour is “less than 1.9 seconds”. This meant that the electric car was in the same league as Rimac with the Nevera and would leave behind a Porsche Taycan Turbo GT with the Weissach package.

Based on the rather generous Chinese test cycle, Jiyue also states a range of “more than 650 kilometers”. They want to have all of this packed into a car made of carbon fiber and aluminum, which means the total weight should only be 1,850 kilograms.

AI for the racetrack, no price

An AI will also work on board, which, according to the manufacturer, “makes driving decisions more precise and safer”. There will also be an autonomous driving mode for racetracks, reports the trade magazine “”. Why you should use this remains to be seen.

A record is a record: Rimac for over 2 million euros drives 275 km/h – backwards

Jiyue CEO Joe Xia speaks more than confidently about the car. He said: “In the next 20 years, supercar design will be in the shadow of Robo X. It is the best design in the history of Chinese automobiles and is a milestone.”

However, he did not provide any further details about the Robo X, such as the final price.
