Jaguar dares to restart – and what a restart. The colorful image film was followed by the supposed happy ending. Impressive main actor included.
Allow Jaguar, Jaguar 00, electric. The coupé sedan, which will be presented at the end of 2025, is intended to catapult the traditional British brand into a new era with completely new attributes. The fans ponder, argue and applaud – or not.
The world premiere of the Type 00 was the second act in a performance that the automotive world had probably never seen before. Jaguar wants, Jaguar has to reinvent itself if there is to be a future. Hence the big stage with stars and starlets at Art Miami. Art instead of cars in the Art District and somehow the other way around. JLR chief designer Gerard Gabriel – Gerry for short – McGovern unveiled the new Type 00 in a double pack to show that Jaguar is serious about completely relaunching the brand. Deep dark green on the outside and beige leather on the inside are a thing of the past.

The first image film about the Jaguar renaissance, which flickered across global social media channels almost two weeks ago, exploded like a bomb. Urban trend people, dressed as Teletubbies in colorful dresses, caused an unprecedented media response and a shitstorm that was not only unparalleled in the sleepy car scene. Despite a manageable budget, the sportier part of the Jaguar Land Rover brand made the big appearance with a single 30-second time; a lot louder than previously thought and probably planned. “We expected that we would polarize and that’s exactly what we wanted,” says a brand insider, “but the fact that there would be such a big outcry surprised us.”
Rawdon Glover, Managing Director at Jaguar, explains the striking debut on YouTube, X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram: “Jaguar is a brand with an incredible history. The design and the Le Mans successes – we had to take big steps in repositioning the brand That’s why we wanted maximum attention according to the slogan ‘copy nothing’.”
No question, Jaguar needs to feel new. Things slowly went downhill for many years and the traditional car manufacturer in England could no longer keep up with the immense pace of international competition. The fact that Jaguar now exists in a diffuse quartet of brands alongside Range Rover, Discovery and Defender didn’t make it any easier. Not only for die-hard fans of the British, there are still two brands: Jaguar and Land Rover – the rest are models. That’s it!

At Art Miami, the British celebrated the relaunch of the new Jaguar brand more colorfully and louder than ever: classier, more colorful, more contemporary and, by the way, more electric than ever before. The debut product is the Jaguar Type 00, a massive coupé that is intended to introduce the new design language, created under chief creative force Gerry McGovern, with an immense bang.

The Type 00 study is intended to provide a close-to-production look at a coupé sedan that is over five meters long and, unlike the Miami model, has four doors. Unlike many electric cars, the massive front is reminiscent of models like the Rolls-Royce Phantom or even the film car from “The Green Hornet”. Huge 23-inch wheels, monumental body elements and a massive rear in a slatted design – you will look for British understatement and delicate shapes in the Type 00 based on the new JEA – Jaguar Electric Architecture – just as in vain as in the later production model.
The drive is not provided by an impressively charged eight-cylinder with electrical support, but by a purely electric drive. All-wheel drive, all-wheel steering and engine outputs of up to 1,000 hp are included, as are WLTP ranges of up to 770 kilometers. An 800-volt electrical system should ensure that the battery pack in the underbody increases its range by more than 320 kilometers in 15 minutes using a 350 kW charger.
Otherwise, the Miami study, with its puristic interior, high-tech armchairs and elegant details, makes you dream of an automotive future in which the jumping Jaguar as a company logo no longer has any meaning. Together with the Type 00, new typography, changed signets and a new logo will be introduced. Instead of the jumping cat, there is now a JR emblem on the steering wheel or rims. “Almost all electric cars have small tires and a short hood – we wanted to solve this differently,” explains Rawdon Glover, “nothing on the road looks like that at the moment.”
However, there may be a reason for that. At least Jaguar admits that it doesn’t want to please everyone with the new design language and that it explicitly wants to polarize people. This also applies to the two models that can be admired at Art Miami. Classic British Racing Green or muted colors like a normal model from the luxury segment are a thing of the past with Agent 00. One model is presented in Miami Pink; the second in London Blue. Just right here not far from Ocean Drive and the Art Deco District; But in a German, British or Californian driveway, the series implementation that will follow in 2026 will probably have a difficult time in this color scheme. There is therefore still a lot to do. Not just the color palette.
