A Bugatti is not an off-the-shelf car. But the high prices are just the beginning for many customers. The boss talked about what was actually on the bill afterwards.

Bugatti does not build many cars, nor does the comparatively small factory in Molsheim, France, offer a wide range of models. On the contrary: production of the Chiron has just ended and customers will have to wait quite a while for the successor called Tourbillon. Until then, the company will only deliver the small series Mistral and Bolide, each in double-digit numbers. But it’s apparently worth it: Not only does Bugatti charge ridiculous prices for the cars – the tourbillon costs 3.8 million euros before taxes – but customers are apparently willing to pay high sums for extras.

Company boss Mate Rimac spoke about this in an interview with the British trade magazine “”. The occasion was the test drive of the Bugatti Mistral, during which the company secured the record for the fastest convertible in the world. The open super sports car reached 453.91 km/h.

Bugatti customers spend an average of “half a million euros” on it

When the “Top Gear” presenter Rimac asked how the car came about being built, he chatted about it. According to the company boss, the record-breaking Mistral was actually the idea of ​​a customer. As the owner of several record-breaking vehicles, he approached the company with the desire to own the fastest car of this open model.

It is common among Bugatti customers to expect a high level of individual equipment, says Rimac. “We have these special programs that we carry out with our customers. So the cars are becoming more and more individual. We are currently at around half a million euros for customization per car.”

Customer is no stranger

And that’s not all. As “” writes, the owner, a billionaire named Reuben Singh, is said to own several record-breaking Bugatti vehicles along with the Mistral. His collection also includes a Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport, the Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse, and a Chiron Super Sport 300+.

It is said that Singh owns over 3,000 cars. This also explains why the enormous prices are apparently just numbers for him. The entrepreneur usually only shows up with his Rolls-Royce fleet. He became known because he often matched the color of his turban to the car in question.
