Tesla Cybertruck: Putin’s bloodhound rails against electric cars and admits lies

Ramzan Kadyrov
Putin’s bloodhound raved about the Cybertruck – now he finds it “useless”

Ramzan Kadyrov proudly claimed that his Cybertruck was a gift from Elon Musk. Now Putin’s confidant has admitted: That was a lie and the truck is no good.

The car was real, the story behind it wasn’t. In August, Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov boasted about a Tesla Cybertruck. And that’s not all: Kadyrov claimed that Tesla boss Elon Musk gave him the car himself. To make matters worse, a machine gun was mounted on the car (“Putin’s Bloodhound” Kadyrov poses with Tesla’s Cybertruck). Now, according to Russian media, Kadyrov openly admitted: The story was meant – at least in part – as a “joke”.

The Russian internet newspaper “” reports that most of it was a lie. During a Q&A session, Kadyrov said: “I’m interested in Elon Musk himself – I like his character, his lifestyle, the way he behaves and his worldview. I like to joke with him on social media. He gave me that Car not given, it wasn’t mine. I made up that joke and ran with it.”

Elon Musk denied extradition

Kadyrov’s announcement at the time: The powerful Cybertruck was a “very practical car” and would be “of great use to our fighters.” The dictatorial ruler was alluding to a possible deployment in Ukraine, where he is pushing forward the invasion side by side with Russia.

Musk harshly denied this and , who confronted him with Kadyrov’s claims: “Are you really so retarded that you think I gave a Cybertruck to a Russian general? That’s amazing.”

But Kadyrov continued to spin his story. He first accused Musk of shutting down his truck in mid-September (the star reported), shortly afterwards he presented even more Tesla trucks equipped with weapons. It was clear that Kadyrov had apparently managed, through detours, to somehow get access to the vehicles that he would actually not have been able to show due to strict sanctions. This gave the impression that Kadyrov wanted to demonstrate to the Western world and openly demonstrate that political punishments had no effect. Kadyrov left it open where he ultimately got the Cybertruck.

However, there actually seems to have been a test for combat use. Kadyrov obviously has an opinion about the suitability of the e-truck. He said: “We sent a cybertruck to the front and mounted a machine gun on it, but it proved useless in battle. […] If we have offended Elon Musk in any way, we apologize.”
