The governor of Chubut, Ignacio Torresannounced the creation of a free zone in the province, which will be the largest in the country and will grant tax advantages to companies operating in the area in question,
Torres led an event in Trelew to mark the mayor’s first year in office Gerardo Merinowhich also coincided with the provincial president’s first 12 months at the head of the local Executive Branch
During the event, the PRO leader confirmed the creation of the Sub Free Trade Zone for the town of Trelew.
Chubut will have its own free zone
“Today we can confirm that the Minister of Economy of the Nation signed the creation of the largest Sub-Free Zone in Argentina, and on Saturday we will be presenting this truly historic milestone together with Gerardo Merino and all the mayors, but fundamentally with all the people Trelewense, who deserves to live in a city like it should never have stopped being.”said the president.
In this regard, the Patagonian leader mentioned that “currently, all the resources that we export from the province pay many taxes on export duties, which are not shared, therefore they do not return and remain in the national coffers.”

The governor of Chubut, Ignacio Torres, led an event in Trelew.
Likewise, he announced that “after the creation of the Sub Free Trade Zone, everything that is produced and exported will be exempt from taxes, which will give us a very important comparative advantage, which will make us more competitive and compensate for the gap that, due to higher logistics costs, constituted an unprofitable place for companies to locate.”
“Local companies will be able to add value to their resources, which means more work and, ultimately, a virtuous circle: it is a before and after for Trelew and for the province,” stated the head of the provincial Executive.
“Patagonia is growing, it is a blessed land and we have to prepare so that our people are trained to face this exponential growth,” said Torres under the Provincial Plan for the Development of Professional Profiles for the Metalworking Industry of Chubut, announced this Monday.
Companies
On the other hand, Torres mentioned that “many of the companies that suffered the uncertainty of having to lay off people, from now on they are going to start thinking about hiring people, as in the case of one of the companies that committed an investment of 10 million of dollars to increase their production in the Industrial Park,” the president also noted, in relation to the commitment signed between the provincial Executive and Peinaduría Río Chubut.
Likewise, during his speech at the opening of the anniversary event, the governor celebrated the results of the municipal management, highlighting the role of Gerardo Merino at the head of the local Executive, and stated that “This mayor is an example of management, and we see it in the number of people who are present at this event, which are those who voted for Gerardo as mayor and me as Governor, but also those who did not do so and today see a orderly and clean city, something that in the past seemed utopian”.
