Manuel Antelo says he wants to invest again in Argentina

This visit is intended as a sign of the businessman’s intention to bet again on Argentina, which now has a different scenario than when he reduced his investments in the country.

In July 2020, Antelo completed the sale of 51% of the shares of Car One, the company that concentrates the marketing of new and used cars, to Pochat group with a strong role in the automotive sector in the southern area of ​​the province of Buenos Aires.

The operation, anticipated exclusively by Ámbito, was part of the strategy of the former head of CIADEA to reduce the exposure of businesses in the country to concentrate them in Uruguay, given the economic scenario that was projected with a new Kirchnerist management.

The business group that took over the company, led by Hernán and Martín Pochat, has dealerships for brands such as Nissan, Volkswagen and Peugeot in the towns of Mar del Plata, La Plata, Pinamar and Tres Arroyos.

Car One was founded in 1997 by Antelo –who today divides his time between the businesses he has in Argentina, Uruguay and Spain (he is the owner of an important logistics company) – as the first venture to sell guaranteed used cars.

Later, it added the marketing of 0km brands, which made it one of the most important players in the sector. It also ventured into the sale of Chinese brands, such as Haval, Great Wall and Changan, to later add the Japanese Mitsubishi.

At the same time, it was increasing its activity in Uruguay where, in addition to another Cer One establishment, it has a multi-product complex where, in addition to the purchase and sale of cars, a shopping center and other ventures on the outskirts of Montevideo, on the way to Punta del Este. Hernán Pochat was commercial director of Car One until 2006.
