The Mercedes Compressor Plant comes into operation

As of this work, it is expected that the Mercedes-Cardales Gasduct will go from transporting 6 million cubic meters of LNG per day to a total of 15 million.

The national government announced this Thursday the start-up of the Mercedes Compressor Plantwhich will allow increasing the transport capacity of the Mercedes-Cardales gas pipeline at 6 million cubic meters per dayreaching a total of 15 million cubic meters per day of Liquefied Natural Gas.

Furthermore, by generating a savings on LNG importsthey are expected to be spent 2.5 million dollars less per day.

The Mercedes-Cardales Gasduct was inaugurated during the administration of Alberto Fernandez and now it will go into operation. It is part of the complementary works of the Perito Moreno Gas Pipeline.

Despite having stopped public works throughout the country, the Government decided to end this project that had a progress of 60% when the administration of Javier Milei came to the national administration. They decided to continue with the initiative considering that it was “fundamental to conclude the Mercedes-Cardales Gasduct” and “it was already started.”

In any case, the Executive Branch targeted the Fernández government due to the situation in which the work was located. “The project was affected by unresolved contractor claimsdelays in the approval of SIRAS that complicated the importation of materials, a debt of 2 million dollars and a pending price update, from January 2023, for $4.5 million.”
