The supermarket chain opened the doors of the new Carrefour MAXI in Madariaga. Located on Route 11, it is the 36th opening of the year and the 34th branch of the wholesale format. With an investment of $12.6 billion, it will welcome more than 150,000 residents from surrounding areas and tourists.
Carrefour Argentina inaugurated the first branch of its wholesale format in the General Madariaga District, Province of Buenos Aires. Located on Route 11 (km 398) and close to the towns of Cariló, Pinamar and Villa Gesell, this is store number 34 of Carrefour MAXI. It will have an ideal proposal for merchants, people who live alone and families who wish to access a convenient price offer, purchasing products in bulk and with no minimum purchase.

The new branch will have a renewed proposal for the final consumer that includes an important fresh food sector, with the presence of local suppliers; own bakery and butcher shop production; developed assortment of high-end and non-food products in primary shelf. It will also provide the possibility of making online purchases, both for merchants and end consumers, and will serve as a pickup point for products in the “electro” section. It will also have a sector during the season for the purchase of furniture and summer products.


The new branch had an investment of $12.6 billion pesos and has a 3,300 m2 sales room. Added to this is the parking lot, which has capacity for 200 cars. 180 employees are being hired to operate the store
“We have had a very important year in terms of expansion, with 6 new Carrefour MAXI branches and 30 new Express, and we are going to continue on this path in 2025, bringing these two formats, which are their favorites, closer to our customers,” said Néstor Sist, Co-Executive Director of Carrefour Argentina, during the opening ceremony on Thursday afternoon, which included the participation of the Buenos Aires governor, Axel Kicillof, and the mayor of General Madariaga, Esteban Santoro.
The branches of this format have an assortment of more than 7,000 references, among which the more than 1,500 Carrefour Products stand out, recognized for their excellent price-quality ratio. Carrefour MAXI offers discounts for purchases in quantity, carrying three or more units of a product, regardless of whether they are purchases for final consumers or merchants.
The format arrived in the country in 2011 and currently has branches in the City of Buenos Aires, Greater Buenos Aires (Avellaneda, Burzaco, Ezpeleta, Temperley, Laferrere, Moreno, José C. Paz, Lomas de Zamora, Tortuguitas, Loma Hermosa , Ituzaingó, Escobar, Bella Vista, Villa Rosa, San Vicente), Chivilcoy (PBA), Cañuelas (PBA) Paraná (Entre Ríos), Resistencia (Chaco), San Salvador de Jujuy, San Fernando del Valle de Catamarca, Córdoba Capital and the City of Mendoza, to which is added the new opening of General Madariaga.
Carrefour is concretizing and expanding its expansion plan in the country and announced this year an investment of 300 million dollars by 2026 for the inauguration of 27 Carrefour MAXI and 60 Express format stores, which will generate 2,500 new jobs.
