An electric car in first place – these are the best cars of the year according to ADAC

In total, the ADAC tested 84 cars this year. This time it’s not a luxury manufacturer in first place, but rather an upper mid-range electric car.

The ADAC experts have been systematically testing cars for years. According to its own statement, the club tests the vehicles in around 300 points in order to make the results as comparable as possible. This year, 22 petrol cars, 16 diesel cars, 16 hybrids, one gas car and 29 electric cars were examined. The and the grade range is from 1.5 to 4.1. The good news: 74 cars are “good”. According to the ADAC, this means: “You really can’t go wrong with these vehicles.”

Dacia “poor” in important discipline

Only two vehicles failed to achieve a grade with a two before the decimal point. The Dacia Duster TCe 100 ECO-G brought up the rear in the tests. The weaknesses read accordingly: According to experts, the comfort and safety equipment is “poor”, the material quality is “very basic”, the comfort is “moderate” and the driving performance is “sluggish”. A look at the partial grades reveals that security deficiencies in particular led to the poor grade. With a 4.6, the car received a “poor” rating in this discipline.

Dekra investigation

Fear of high repair costs – are electric cars really such a burden?

The SsangYong Tivoli 1.5 GDI-T landed in penultimate place. The overall grade of 3.0 is made up of mixed reviews; the experts only found the engine “good”.

Volkswagen wins overall car ranking

This year, a German electric car took the lead. The VW ID.7 Pro impressed the ADAC and received a grade of 1.5. In the eyes of the testers, the “electric Passat” is an “outstanding all-rounder” with plenty of space, a high level of safety and a powerful drive. The measured consumption of 18.1 kilowatt hours per 100 kilometers also allows the car to have a real range of almost 500 kilometers. This means, according to the club, that there is “almost no need to make any more cuts”.

However, it should be noted that price does not play a role in the ADAC tests. Unfortunately, the test winner is not a bargain and currently starts at 54,000 euros with the “Pro” equipment.

Macan Turbo: perhaps the most attractive electric car – under one condition

The top 10 best ADAC cars of the year are not cheap anyway. The Skoda Enyaq 85x (1.6) and the Kia EV9 (1.7) are also quite high in price. If you are looking for a vehicle under 40,000 euros, you have to start further down the list. Only the Tesla Model 3 is just under this price limit – and still impresses with a smooth 2.0.

When it comes to combustion engines, the Skoda Superb Combi 2.0 TDI SCR was the most impressive. The experts gave the diesel an overall grade of 1.7.
