Every cent counts: This makes refueling cheaper for you
2024 will go down as one of the most expensive years in tank history. So the trip to the gas pump became an expensive pleasure. We show how you can save in 2025.
The major switch to electromobility has not yet occurred and so most drivers regularly go to the pump to fill up with liters of premium or diesel fuel. According to the ADAC, 2024 was the third most expensive year in fuel history and there are indications that 2025 will be even more expensive for drivers. At the start of the new year, fuel prices in Germany rose because on January 1, 2025, the CO2 price for climate-damaging fuels such as gasoline, diesel, heating oil and gas was raised from 45 to 55 euros per ton of carbon dioxide emitted. This increase is passed on to fuel costs and thus to drivers.
However, if you follow a few tips, you can save a hundred or more euros over the year. With three to four refueling sessions per month, the savings with your own vehicle can quickly reach 250 to 400 euros per year. First of all, when it comes to refueling, it depends on the time and day. It is particularly expensive in the morning and the prices at the pump are usually particularly high before you leave for the weekend.
