Eight people were arrested, including a former Gendarmerie chief, for being part of a drug gang that trafficked cocaine and ecstasy from Salta to Mendoza. The operation allowed the seizure of more than 30 kilos of drugs, as well as weapons and cash.
The former commander of the National Gendarmerie, Miguel Angel Torreswas arrested along with others seven peopleaccused of integrating a drug gang that operated in the transfer of large quantities of cocaine and ecstasy between Jump and Mendoza. The group was dismantled after a long investigation operation that included intelligence interventions and field work, and in which more than 30 kilos of narcotics, weapons and cash were seized.

The case has as its background a well-structured criminal scheme, with assigned roles among the members, including agents of the Salta Penitentiary Serviceand a network of collaborators. The operations intensified after a discovery in May 2024, when almost 100 kilos of marijuana were found at a roadblock. From there, the authorities deepened the investigation until they dismantled the organization.

The investigation and modus operandi of the drug gang
