Old School Cool: The fastest cars of the eighties

Porsche, Ferrari and Co.
These “classic cars” were among the fastest cars of the eighties

The eighties were a decade of madness – also on the streets. The star Shows how brisk you were already on the road with enough change in the eighties.

In advance: Many vehicles of this photo gallery are now absolute cult. The prices are accordingly brutal. If you want to put a Lamborghini Countach LP5000S Quattrovalvole in the garage today, you need deep pockets. The same applies to almost everything from Maranello, the Ferrari city. It gets a little more bearable with a look over the large pond, because the V8 sports cars from the USA are also rare, but apparently less popular among collectors.

Porsche Taycan

Sports car with a connector – you don’t need a “grumbling” for fun

This is how well -preserved models of the Pontiac Firebird Trans on start at around 20,000 euros. A Buick Grand National shelf would also be received for 50,000 euros if it doesn’t necessarily have to be one of the rare “GNX” models and a little less performance is sufficient. In this price region there is also the “Bond submarine”, the Lotus Esprit.

Just a little going under 100,000 euros

The next stage form Porsche and Ferrari. The Porsche 911 Turbo is available at prices around 120,000 euros, an iconic Testarossa also changes the owner from around 100,000 euros.

After that it gets painful. A Lamborghini Countach does not change the garage below 400,000 euros, the extremely rare Aston Martin V8 Zagato is also in this price range.

Millionaires have the free choice: there is a Porsche 959 from 1.3 million euros, a Ferrari F40 currently costs two million euros in very good condition, sometimes only half. It looks really bad when it is supposed to be a Ferrari 288 GTO. With this vehicle, the offers start from 3.5 million euros.

1986 from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds

But which car is now the fastest in this photo gallery? It is not the Lamborghini Countach with its 455 hp. The racing theater needs 4.9 seconds from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour, at 295 km/h it is over. The Aston Martin V8 Zagato with its 438 hp is not either. It takes around five seconds up to 100 km/h – too slow.

So Ferrari? Not quite. The 288 GTO is always out. He “only” brings it to 305 kilometers per hour and manages the 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds.

The Scuderia shares first place with Porsche. The super sports car F40 shines with the highest final speed: 324 kilometers per hour. But it takes 4.1 seconds for the 100 km/h. Porsche trumps here: The Porsche 959 creates the 100 km/h in just 3.7 seconds. This lacks five kilometers per hour for victory in terms of maximum speed. At 317 kilometers per hour, it is somewhat behind Ferrari.
