ADAC rasty test
It is better not to stop at these auto sites

You shouldn’t refuel at a motorway service area anyway – but can you at least take a break there? In the ADAC test, there are both positive surprises and perennials.
If you start a longer trip by car, you sometimes dread the breaks. German rest areas don’t have the best reputation. Quite different from, for example, in Italy, where you can almost look forward to attacking a damn good coffee and Italian dishes at fair prices at the first possible autoGrill.
But not everything in this country is not bad, as the current one. The club has taken a close look at 40 rest areas all over Germany and rated them according to different criteria, including gastronomy offerings, state of sanitary facilities, pricing and infrastructure.
The bad news: Nobody could get a “very good” under the rest areas tested. The good news: a complete failure and therefore a “very poor” did not exist. Otherwise, the location is mixed: eight rest areas secured a “good”, there was a “poor” six times, the rest is somewhere in between.
Mostly good toilets – but everything has its price
In contrast to unmanageable rest areas with those unspeakable toilet houses that warn them from a distance from their smell, to enter them, you can rely on one thing at least on the larger rest areas: In the case of sanitary facilities, which are mostly operated by Sanifair, there is usually a “modern, well -equipped and intact” quiet town, according to the testers. Nevertheless, despite the high entry of one euro, some plants were not always convincing with flawless cleanliness.
Somewhat surprisingly, the conclusion of the dishes can work. Because the ADAC writes that the testers were “almost consistently satisfied” with the menu at the rest areas. But: only three of the 40 tested systems also offered fair prices here. The testers found the range too expensive for the other offers, it was apparently cheeky in the shops. The price-performance ratio was “often overpriced” there, especially compared to car stoves behind the highway.
The best rest areas according to ADAC – and the worst
The three best rest areas from the current ADAC test can therefore be found in “Fürholzen West” in Bavaria on the A9, in the “Demminer Land” in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania on the A20 and in the “Sindelfinger Wald Süd” in Baden-Württemberg on the A8.
The three final lights can be found on the A20 in “Fuchsberg Süd” in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, in “Münsterland West” in North Rhine-Westphalia on the A1 and in “Eisenach Nord” in Thuringia along the A4.
In general, the ADAC advises you to recharge your batteries. In another test, the club analyzed the prices and came to the conclusion that you pay up to 54 cents more per liter along the highway than at petrol stations near the departures.
In the test, large defects regarding child -friendliness and accessibility were found, and most rest areas offered far too few quick charging stations for electric cars. What is not in the test: the very most loading spaces are covered. When the weather is very bad, the trip with the Stromer on such charging stops is really a stress test.
