The head of Bosch in the Russian Federation spoke about the problems with the supply of electronics to AvtoVAZ

The head of Bosch in the Russian Federation and the CIS, Steffen Hoffmann, said in an interview with Interfax on February 7 that the semiconductor crisis will continue to negatively affect the supply of automotive electronics components from Bosch to AvtoVAZ until the end of 2022.

“I would say that the situation is still not resolved and remains critical. So far, we have all the same problems that will have an impact for much of this year. But we hope to see a slight recovery by the end of the year,” said Steffen Hoffmann, answering a question about deliveries to AvtoVAZ.

According to the top manager, the Bosch Samara plant (Robert Bosch Samara LLC) mainly produces blocks of ABS and ESP systems. It was these products that were most affected by the semiconductor crisis around the world.

Vehicle assembly at AvtoVAZ has been intermittent since June 2021. This is due to problems with the supply of electronic components from the Robert Bosch Samara company, which, in turn, is experiencing difficulties in working with its suppliers.

AvtoVAZ produces Lada and Renault. The company’s production facilities are located in Tolyatti and Izhevsk. The owner of 100% of the Russian automaker is the Dutch company Alliance Rostec Auto BV – a joint venture of Rostec (32%) and Renault Group (68%).

On February 4, it was reported that Russian AvtoVAZ dealers sold 18,045 new Lada cars in January 2022. This is 17.4% less than in January 2021.

The most popular Lada among Russians was the Vesta model. In total, 5953 such vehicles were sold in the first month of 2022, which is 6.2% less than a year ago.
