Countless bicycle thefts are reported every year – there are still no trace of the perpetrators. It is hardly surprising why more and more people are relying on alarm systems.
Although the number of bicycle thefts in Germany is slightly declining, the resulting amount of damage further increases. This is sometimes due to the fact that more and more people are buying expensive bicycles: E-bikes in particular are currently particularly popular. With the right bicycle lock, a quick stealing should be prevented, but most of them do not really have a deterrent – in contrast to a mobile alarm system that is supposed to expose the potential thief using a loud signal. We present three different models from different price ranges.
Bicycle alarm system: three models in comparison
1. Fosmon alarm system
This waterproof model is simply attached to the bike somewhere, preferably on a clean surface: For the installation you either need a glue (included in the scope of delivery) or use cable ties. The mobile alarm system is activated via a remote control, via which you can set seven different sensitivity levels. The device then reacts to vibrations or movements with an alarm signal with an 113 decibel.
The acquisition offers significantly more expensive to purchase A so -called “3D position detection” – that is, the sensors contained therein recognize the smallest vibrations in all three dimensions. The small box is installed using short -term metal straps that are included. If someone tries to steal the bike, a signal sounds with a volume of 100 decibels, which is about a circular saw. The alarm is activated at the push of a button, deactivated with a key.
3. M-wave alarm system
This alarm system is installed on the bike using pipe fastening. Then a three -digit code must be submitted to activate the device – here too, different levels of sensitivity can be set. The integrated motion sensor raises the alarm as soon as someone tries to steal the bike. Equipped with 120 decibels, the warning signal is extremely loud and daunting for thieves.
Volume: What is hidden behind the decibels?
In order to better understand how loud an alarm signal is, you will find information about the volume unit decibel (DB) in the following table:
Sound level (db) | Sound source: |
30 dB | Whisper |
60 dB | Normal conversation/lawn mower (10 m away) |
80 dB | Edge of a traffic road (5 m) |
100 dB | Circular saw, discotheque |
140 dB | Aircraft start |
So you see that one With over 100 decibels, it is extremely loud when it gives a warning signal. Say, not only the thief hears the alarm, but certainly one or the other neighbor. Ideally, a long finger lets off the bike quickly and disappears quickly – without a bike.
