Too high speeds on the streets are a main reason for severe to fatal accidents. Germany wants to counteract and therefore exacerbates the speed controls.
The police are back on a speed camera marathon: In many federal states, the speed in road traffic will be increasingly checked from Monday. According to the ADAC 14 of the 16 federal states, the Saarland and Berlin are not participating in the one week.
With the controls – especially on accident -prone sections and in the area of schools and construction sites – safety on the streets is to be increased. Tempo founders have to expect to be flashed and then receive a fine. But not in all participating federal states is checked all week, some concentrate on Wednesday, such as Bavaria and Thuringia.
Blitzer marathon is supposed to ensure security
According to ADAC, there should be increased controls in countries such as Lower Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt-the campaign is therefore also called “Speedweek”. According to the Interior Ministry, around 1,500 measuring points are to be set up in Bavaria alone.
The aim is to stop rapidly, protect life and sensitize people to responsible driving. According to the Federal Statistical Office, 2780 people died in the event of accidents in road traffic. Too high speed is one of the main causes.
