The traffic police reminded about safety standards when choosing a taxi

At the end of 2021, in Moscow, the number of road accidents in which people died and were injured, with the participation of taxi cars, was 1966 cases, and with the participation of short-term rental cars – 436. This is 23% and 5%, respectively, of the total number of road accidents with victims and injured in the past year. This was announced on February 9 by the official Telegram channel of the Moscow State traffic inspectorate.

The agency has prepared a brief digest with safety standards when choosing a taxi, as well as with the rules of conduct in carsharing.

So, when choosing a taxi, you should always pay attention to the condition of the driver. If there are obvious signs of fatigue or drunkenness, you must immediately report to the support service or by calling “112”.

In addition, when traveling with a child, it is important to take care of the presence of a child restraint. The driver must not be distracted inside the vehicle. If the driver violates the rules, you must ask to stop the trip and inform the support service about the incident.

As for carsharing cars, the State Traffic Inspectorate recommends that you take care of having an account, since attempts to purchase a fake one end up with criminal liability for vehicle theft.

You should also remember that you will have to answer for damage to rented vehicles and other property. It is not worth scorching in an attempt to save on car rental, saving a few tens of rubles can lead to tragic consequences.

In addition, both in a taxi and in carsharing, as in any other car, it is necessary to buckle up, even in the back seat.

In September, it was reported that devices for monitoring driver drowsiness may appear in Russia. The Ministry of Transport proposed to install such devices in taxis.

Machines must be equipped with special indicators that have passed mandatory certification. The initiative can be implemented in practice from September 1, 2022.
