Russian designer Vladimir Yartsev, who collaborated with AvtoVAZ and developed the image of the domestic VAZ-2110 sedan, criticized the look of modern cars.
In his interview to the Avtobroker Club portal, Yartsev told what is the reason for the popularity of cars with designs from the middle of the 20th century.
“The growing popularity of Russian and foreign cars with design, as you said from the 20th century, is more likely in the protest of consumers against the unreasonable puffy variety of new products offered by manufacturers. People were drawn to the simple, understandable. The fact is that in the design of some modern automotive brands there are indeed hypertrophied forms and elements,” Vladimir Yartsev explained.
The designer stressed that “puffy lips and buttocks” are no longer popular. The same thing happens in auto design. Soon, not only tuners, but also automotive brand designers will change direction towards classic style.
On December 3, it was reported that artist Nikita Chuiko created a series of renderings, suggesting what a new generation Lada Oka hatchback might look like.
The revived Oka could get a design in the style of current AvtoVAZ cars: X-shaped bumpers with chrome inserts, but it would get headlights from Renault Twingo.
