There are numerous objects that you have to have in a police check in the car. At the same time, there are also forbidden things that can lead to high penalties when carrying out in the car.
The mandatory equipment of a car is quickly told: If you are traveling in Germany with a car, you have to carry a valid driver’s license, the vehicle registration certificate (not letter!), Any papers for structural changes to the vehicle, a warning triangle, a warning vest and a current, not expired first -aid box. If you violate a police control against the mutual obligation, there is a risk of smaller but annoying fines.
However, it becomes really expensive when you transport things in the car that you shouldn’t carry with you at all. We are talking about certain knives. He warns of this in a short video. In short because there is actually not so much to explain.
A knife in the glove compartment can be very expensive
Because as soon as you transport certain knives unsecured in the car-unsecured means: at hand-according to the ADAC lawyer, you violate the weapons law. Incidentally, a knife would also be at hand if you transport it in the glove compartment.
According to ADAC, the forbidden weapons include all one -handed knives and knives with a fixed blade of over 12 centimeters. Softair pistols also fall into the definition, according to the ADAC. The all -clear is available for normal pocket knives, because with the popular all -purpose tools, the blade of most models measures about seven centimeters.
It is particularly easy to grip into the “one-hand knife trap”. This is a knife with an opening aid, mostly a pin in the middle of the blade, and foundable blade. Other models have holes in the blade or a so -called pinball. The length of the blade does not matter in such knives. Some manufacturers therefore enable the opening pine to be removed. It is not clear whether the removal of the opening aids is enough in order to be allowed to carry the knife legally and, in the worst case, does not change the punishment.
Such a knife should only carry out who has a so -called “legitimate interest”. According to the law, this is “in particular if the objects are carried out in connection with the practice of professional practice, customs care, sport or a generally recognized purpose serves.” If you absolutely have to transport it, but does not have such a “legitimate interest”, the knife must be in a lockable container. In some cases, what that is exactly is a matter of interpretation.
What is forbidden in the car

Flip-flops and high heels in the car: driving with flip-flops is not forbidden, so insurance also occurs for damage if the driver carries such sandals or a lady high heels. If the unsuitable footwear causes the accident, the driver must expect losses.
Driving barefoot: The same applies here as with the flip-flops: in principle it is allowed, but if the mere feet are to blame for an accident, the insurance is drawn from the affair.

Which is not allowed in the car
The other things that should not be transported in the car include dangerous substances such as explosives and a lot of fireworks, large quantities of fuel outside the tank, certain chemicals, firearms, unsecured animals or general things that affect views or safety, such as large wooden slats that are laid across the vehicle.
Important: He also writes that “the police are not allowed to search the car in general traffic control, or open doors or access doors”. If there is no danger in delay or there is a search decision, you can refuse control. However, such a refusal can lead to further police measures.
