AlfaStrakhovanie experts analyzed the structure of insurance payments under compulsory carrier civil liability insurance policies (OSGOP) for 2019–2021 and found out in which Russian regions accidents involving city and suburban buses most often occur.
As stated in a press release received by the editors of Izvestia on February 11, the Smolensk region occupies the first place, which accounted for 15.3% of the total number of accidents over the specified period. Second place is occupied by St. Petersburg – 13.4% of accidents were recorded. In third place is the Novosibirsk region – 10.5% of accidents.
Fourth place was shared by two subjects at once – Moscow and the Stavropol Territory (9.5% each, respectively). The Chelyabinsk region closes the top five with 6.0%.
The top ten also included the Penza Region (5.9%), the Voronezh Region (4.3%), the Altai Territory (2.7%) and the Sakhalin Region (2.5%).
On February 8, it was reported that in Moscow, following the results of 2021, the main type of accident was a collision with a pedestrian — almost 3,000 accidents in which 166 people died and 2,801 were injured.
The State Traffic Inspectorate of Moscow has published a memo that lists the rules of conduct on the road. In particular, the memo states that a pedestrian must cross the road in the places established by the traffic rules.
